Tip Tuesday | Round Brush Size Matters

by Leslie 21. May 2013 10:16

Tip and Hairstyling  by Dana at our Upper Arlington, Ohio Salon

With round brushes size matters! This extra large brush (3 1/2 inch barrel)  makes it easier to acheive fullness while smoothing at the same time. Clients find it easier to use a large brush because they can get more hair on the brush at once. This brush works great on hair as short as chin length.

To use apply Kenneths Straight and Smooth mid-lengths through ends. Make sure you're using a blow dryer that has a nozzle. The nozzel will ensure the air is smoothing where you need it and not blasting the cuticle open.

Zoey Enters Wella's The Trend Vision Competition

by Leslie 20. May 2013 08:29

The annual Wella Trend Vision Awards offer talented stylists with the opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity on a national level by interpreting one of the four Wella trends. At Wella, forecasting new fashion directions and developing advanced hairstyling and color techniques is all part of Trend Vision.

Wella Hair Color Professional has released four trends for the 2013 Wella Trend Vision Awards, created by Global Creative Director Wella Professionals Eugene Souleiman and Global Creative Director Colour Josh Wood. Wella launches trends that influence fashion and beauty, naming the four themes: Fusion, Decibel, Echo, and Allegra.

Zoey from our Polaris salon chose to interpret Allegra.

"We all felt instantly that "ALLEGRA" demanded classical instruments, that was obvious: strings, but with a very driven energy – a frantic, precise beat, expressing the rich take on the golden vibrations in the sound wave. It's a classically composed but shamelessly distorted theme." "The Sound of Color was a great opportunity to express something with a new and dynamic artistic purpose."

Justin from our Powell, Ohio salon chose to interpret Echo.

"Trend vision is all about artistic expression and interpretation. With Lindsay I saw echo embodied! My spin on the trend was to take the stereotypical angry goth chic look that is always though of as having cool blue black hair and turn it to cool blue blond."

Katherine from our New Albany, Ohio salon chose to interpret Echo.

"The key to "ECHO", is the minimalistic approach, but with an anarchic austerity aesthetic: very black and white, very radical and driven. The sound practically unravels in front of your eyes. You have to break the rules with an angry beat that matches the sound spikes. Some passages are almost hollow, an echo in major and minor."

"In this Trend, there's the interplay between two musical themes, one Eastern and one Western. The name sums it up: "FUSION." We picked up on Asian polyphonic harmonies and interwove them with modern experimental sounds ... a new kind of world music."

How To Get Your Hair Ready For Summer!

by Leslie 10. May 2013 15:56

3 easy tips to get your hair ready for summer

1.       Color- I recommend going a little lighter in the spring/summer! Highlights or Color Express are the perfect way to brighten up your hair for summer.

2.       Condition/Cut- At any length the winter can leave your ends dry and brittle.  It’s important to your hair trimmed regularly keep it looking healthy. If you’re growing your hair out the last thing you want is for it to get long and be dry and unhealthy. Be sure to get deep conditioning treatments every other haircut.

3.       Products- It is important to change your shampoo and conditioner with the season so that your hair doesn’t get use to one particular set of products.  Before you hit the pool or beach be sure you’re using  Kenneth’s Elixir 11 It will help your deep conditioning treatment last longer as well as protect it from the sun and chlorine.

*TREND ALERT* Painting/Balayage is all the rage this season,  It is the perfect way to transition out of Ombre (where the highlights are freely painted on your hair)!
