From Mill Run to TruePointe: Honoring the Legacy of Kenneth’s Salons and Spas

There are places that become more than buildings. They become markers in our lives.

For so many guests, team members, and families throughout Central Ohio, Kenneth’s Salons and Spas at Mill Run was one of those places.

When the Mill Run location first opened in the early 1990s, it represented an important evolution for Kenneth’s. It reflected a growing vision for what a salon and spa experience could become: elevated, welcoming, wellness-focused, and deeply personal. Many of the ideas, standards, and experiences that continue to define Kenneth’s today first took shape there.

Some of our longtime guests still remember watching the building itself come to life through the windows as construction unfolded around it.

Now, as the original Mill Run building prepares to come down, we find ourselves reflecting not with sadness, but with gratitude.

Because the story of Mill Run was never really about the walls.

It was always about the people inside them.

Mill Run became a place where careers were built, friendships formed, confidence restored, and traditions created. It represented the passion and perseverance of the employee-owners, educators, stylists, technicians, managers, and support teams who poured themselves into their craft and their guests year after year.

It also represented an important chapter in the growth of Kenneth’s itself. The move to Mill Run symbolized a new era for the company at the time, one centered around innovation, elevated experiences, wellness, education, and a deeper commitment to serving the communities of Central Ohio.

Today, our continued evolution through new branding, updated spaces, expanded wellness offerings, and our move to TruePointe simply reflects where that journey has led us.

More Than a Salon: Stories From Our Guests

Then and Now picture of clients

For decades, Mill Run was more than a place for appointments. It became part of people’s lives. Families grew up here. Traditions were created here. Guests celebrated milestones, navigated difficult seasons, and built relationships that lasted for generations.

Our guests’ memories tell that story best.

Carole C., pictured above, shared memories stretching back to the original Reed Road location, including appointments with Kenneth himself before eventually following her stylist through several Kenneth’s locations over the years. She described Mill Run as “a great place to feel and look my best over many years,” reflecting the loyalty and connection so many guests found here.

Bonnie S. remembers bringing her daughter, and even her wedding party, to Mill Run for special occasion styling. She shared that she always left feeling “happy and relaxed,” a sentiment many longtime guests still associate with Kenneth’s today.

For Carrie M., Mill Run became part of her monthly routine with her daughter Audrey. Their pedicure appointments created lasting friendships with their technicians and meaningful time together. She described the experience simply as “self-care and friendship.”

Another longtime guest reflected on Kenneth’s being her very first “elite” salon experience. She remembered her stylist Sue as kind, caring, and someone with “magic fingers.” More than four decades later, she still visits Kenneth’s regularly, a powerful reminder of how enduring these relationships can become.

Amy K., who has been coming to Kenneth’s practically forever, shared perhaps one of the most full-circle stories of all. Over the years, she coordinated appointments around both her pregnancies and her stylist’s pregnancies, describing her stylist as “like my stand-in therapist.” Today, her daughter is now a client of that stylist’s daughter, a beautiful reflection of the generational connections formed here.

These stories remind us of something important: a salon is never just about hair, skin, nails, or spa services. At its best, it becomes part of people’s confidence, routines, friendships, healing, and lives.

That spirit did not stay behind at Mill Run.

It lives on in the people who helped build Kenneth’s into what it is today, and in every location throughout Central Ohio where our teams continue to serve their communities with professionalism, care, creativity, and heart.

The Mill Run Lobby

While the Mill Run building may soon disappear from the skyline, the feeling behind it has simply moved less than two miles away to Kenneth’s at TruePointe.

Our new home reflects the next chapter of Kenneth’s: modern, welcoming, wellness-centered, and designed for the future while still honoring the foundation that brought us here. Guests will continue to find the same commitment to exceptional hair, skin, nail, massage, and spa experiences across all Kenneth’s locations and departments throughout Central Ohio, each with its own personality and community connection, but united by the same elevated standards and care.

To everyone who helped shape Mill Run over the years, guests, employee-owners, educators, stylists, technicians, managers, and support staff, thank you.

Thank you for trusting us with your milestones, your celebrations, your routines, and your stories.

Thank you for helping turn a building into something far more meaningful.
