Some recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects something that has been happening quietly for years.
Kenneth's Salons + Spas is proud to share that our President, Jody Achatz, has been named one of Central Ohio's 2026 Smart 50 honorees, joining a group of leaders recognized for the way they build, lead and strengthen organizations throughout our community.
The Smart 50 Awards recognize executives from 50 Central Ohio companies for leadership demonstrated through innovation, impact and sustainability, qualities that help organizations remain relevant, resilient and prepared for what comes next.
For those of us who know Jody, there is something particularly fitting about that description.
Leadership That Doesn't Need the Spotlight
Jody probably wouldn't choose to write a story about herself receiving an award. So, we're doing it for her.
Her leadership at Kenneth's has never been about being the loudest voice in the room. It has been about paying attention. Listening to our guests. Listening to our employees. Asking difficult questions. Recognizing when something that worked yesterday may need to evolve for tomorrow.
And then doing the work required to make that evolution happen.
That approach has helped guide Kenneth's through decades of change in the beauty industry, changing consumer expectations, new technology, economic challenges and an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Through it all, the question has remained remarkably consistent:
How do we continue getting better for the people we serve?
Innovation With a Purpose
Innovation can be an impressive word, but in our business it often begins with something very practical: noticing that people want something different.
That thinking has influenced many of the changes happening at Kenneth's today, including new salon and spa environments, evolving services and new ways of creating beauty experiences that better fit our guests' lives.
Our Spa Bar concept is a recent example. Rather than simply recreating the traditional day-spa model, Jody and the Kenneth's team looked at how guest expectations were changing. Some guests wanted relaxation and privacy. Others wanted effective beauty and wellness services that could fit more easily into busy schedules.
The answer wasn't choosing one over the other. It was finding a way to serve both.
That willingness to question, research, adapt and move forward is an important part of what has allowed Kenneth's to continue evolving while remaining distinctly Kenneth's.
An Award With a Much Bigger Story Behind It
While the Smart 50 honor bears Jody's name, its meaning extends far beyond one person.
Kenneth's is an employee-owned company. Every stylist, nail technician, esthetician, guest service team member, educator, manager and support team member contributes to what this company becomes.
Leadership creates direction, but people bring that direction to life.
That is why recognition like this matters to all of us.
It tells us that a Central Ohio company founded in 1977 can continue growing, changing and competing nearly five decades later without abandoning the relationships and values that built it in the first place.
And for our guests, it means the company they have trusted for generations isn't standing still.
We're still listening.
Still learning.
Still changing.
And still thinking about what Kenneth's needs to become next.
Congratulations, Jody
Jody joined fellow Smart 50 honorees at the 2026 Central Ohio Smart 50 Awards celebration on August 13 at The Exchange at Bridge Park in Dublin.
We're proud to see her leadership recognized among an accomplished group of Central Ohio business leaders.
But perhaps the best way to congratulate Jody is simply to keep doing what this recognition represents: take care of our guests, take care of one another, remain curious, embrace change when change makes us better, and continue building a company worthy of its next chapter.
Congratulations, Jody. This one is well deserved.
